Quotes: non-human intelligence is evolved perfection

Some inspiration for the creation of this website came from the views of Barrie K. Gilbert, Utah State University (retired), an expert animal behaviorist who points at human overpopulation.Incidently, in 2003 Dr. Gilbert said "Humans should not have close contact with certain large carnivores like tigers , lions and mountain lions fact, private ownership of these animals should be outlawed."  Now in 2011, most tigers in the world live in the USA .

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement - “May we live long and die out” - Simply by ceasing to breed, Volunteers and Supporters set a good example for others in whatever society we inhabit. Being the change we want to see in the world may be our most influential method of helping others achieve a greater awareness. For many potential Volunteers, this is enough help, so never under-estimate your passive influence.  Many of us, however, want to be more active in spreading the meme of voluntary human extinction. The following advice comes from my experience encouraging voluntary human extinction over the past 40 years. It’s not finished but then neither am I. If you have advice to share, please send it to me and I’ll see if I can fit it in here. Phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth’s biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense....continue

Take back our former ancient communalist green society.  Democracy systems seem okay in the beginning, but always mask bad authoritarian systems that destroy our Darwinian safety net.  Western Democracy's society replaced our communalism about 20,000 years ago.  Long before the dawn of mans' tribal civilization, four legged social animals had also evolved into communal groups or communes using Mother Nature's processes of natural selection Except for Spain, Mother Nature's RIGHT TO LIFE for animals is not enshrined in the Constitution for all countries, because of human supremacists' psychopathy of speciesism

If in Doubt, Look to NatureNatural processes balance competition, cooperation and coordination, on the one hand, and elimination of waste, on the other. Individuals fill the niches opened or left open by others who are less efficient.

With billions of years of evolution under her belt, it’s not surprising that Mother Nature has developed a few tricks in the resource-efficiency game. The natural world is balanced, efficient, resilient, responsive and constantly evolving, and it can provide abundant inspiration and information for a species that is yet to master this balancing act. With this in mind, our final piece of advice in a world of limited resources probably comes as no surprise: if in doubt, look to nature. ...Source http://sixthwave.org/

OR perhaps, instead?  If your mind is not yet ready, Ouspensky can help your mind improve:

Ouspensky, deceased theoretical mathematician, and desciple of George Gurdjieff said that Eastern philosophy is about psychology not philosophy which is why for 60 years Western intellectuals have embrace the study of the non-religeon Buddhism (an offshoot from Hinduism).

(Gurdjieff knew that people could not accept truth if it did not conform to their preconceived mindset continuum.  Reboot?  No, gradually wipe out the content of the harddrive, then reassemble all the undifferentiated pieces of knowledge of "remarkable men" and start all over again.  Maybe Ouspensky was excummunicated by Gurdjieff as remedy so that he could help Ouspensky reassemble newer understandings of remarkable men by deleting a few of Ouspensky's false equations..... J. Gilbert.)

The Fourth Way Explained, October 20, 1998 . This review is from: The Psychology of Man's Possible Evolution .  If you're new to Gurgjieffian thought, this is the book to start with. It gives a general overview of G.I. Gurdjieff and P.D. Ouspensky's main philosophical ideas. The book is in the form of five short lectures that each tackle a particular topic. The major emphasis of the book is that humans need to learn to stop being meachines and to acquire self-consciousness by self-sudy before any upward motion along the lines of knowledge and being can be accomplished. Contains very practical advice.

Foxes were selectively bred in 1958 in Russia to become as docile and friendly as dogs in only nine generationsThe research, accelerated by the recent advances in rapid genome sequencing, aims to answer a fundamental biological question: "How is it possible to make this huge transformation from wild animals into domestic animals?" says Leif Andersson, a professor of genome biology at Uppsala University, in Sweden. The answer has implications for understanding not just how we domesticated animals, but how we tamed the wild in ourselves as well.

The exercise of dominion over plants and animals is arguably the most consequential event in human history. Along with cultivated agriculture, the ability to raise and manage domesticated fauna—of which wolves were likely the first, but chickens, cattle, and other food species the most important—altered the human diet, paving the way for settlements and eventually nation-states to flourish. By putting humans in close contact with animals, domestication also created vectors for the diseases that shaped society.   Read the amazing story here National Geographic, March 2011 .

Michael Farris 's blog: said...

If you want undomesticated people look no farther than Eastern European Roma (gypsies).

Almost all the problems they have (and cause) come down to the fact that they're not domesicated in the way that their host populations are.

I remember seeing two gypsy girls (probably no more than 10 years old each) distract and flank an overwhelm a 20 something male body builder, take his food (Mickey D) from him and send him running away like a frightened 6 year old. Then it hit me - I'd seen exactly the same tactics used by predators who feed on ungulates on the discovery channel a few days before).

I assume that gypsies lose a fair amount of pre-pubescent children to various predators and accidents but there's no population in Europe that tests (with no conscience) the survival skills of their children like gypsies who reoutinely leave them in the middle of urban (predator rich) enivornments for hours or days at a time.

In my weaker moments I almost feel sorry for western governments that want to treat gypsies as post-modern equals.

Michael Farris's comment above stemmed from The Jan 2011 cover story of National Geographic magazine about the temperament of a group of caged foxes in Russia which were trained (transformed) over 45 years –

(Barrie’s comment on my word “trained” which should be the word transformed: cover story of National Geographic magazine about the temperament of a group of wild foxes in Russia which were trained over 45 years - First, these were foxes in a fox farm setting so already passively selected to survive under those conditions.  They were not wild.  I've read the original translations as early development in mammals was one of my concentrations of interest and study.  The Russian scientist did not "train" them but selected behavioural traits from each generation for cooperative temperament and docility ( in contrast to withdrawal, fearful, aggressive, anti-social traits).  This was all based on behaviour.  The physical features of floppy ears, spots, etc. must have been linked genes.  The surprise was the short period of time that the new phenotypes arose and bred true.  So it is not about training, so your hypothetical experiment with people is mute.  Now you could suggest similar breeding experiments with people - Hitler tried this but selective breeding of people seems to be unacceptable in our culture.)

excerpt :  23 Feb 2011 – excerpt : "After only nine generations, the researchers recorded fox kits born with floppier ears. Piebald patterns appeared on their coats. By this time the foxes were already whining and wagging their tails in response to a human presence, behaviors never seen in wild foxes. ..."

a THOUGHT IS A BOOK - The "noise machine" (forebrain) displaces cognition, a full time job - "Live in the moment!"
(but to me (JG) it seems wasteful devoting valuable time shaping a well crafted book because the time taking in the food for the senses is a full time job - "Live in the moment!"  I will try to focus instead on hiking or sailing through wildlife regions to express my chimp genes to regenerate more neuron plasticity to become what I preach: anti-civilization or at least to promote neo-primitivim authors - John Zerzan and Derrick Jensen and Mahatma Gandhi ).
Adam ate from the tree of knowledge.  His instinctive thoughts became words "The Noise Machine", which today pollutes our brains.  An exception: Temple Grandin's autistic images.  ........ Humans learned to manage the brain thousands of years ago with meditation, (initially, the practise of substitution of images for thoughts for twenty minute periods a day.)
After about one year of concentration exercises when some control of "attention" is attained, the brain's major key chore to see truth can start to work on the amazing tool: meditation
The vast majority of cults and mainstream religions use the path of the "emotional centre" which is supernatural not science.  It is crucial to separate "beliefs" (ideology) from good evidence. but the non-religion yoga part of Hinduism and it's offshoot Buddhism uses the brain's intellectual (mental) centre.  That is logical, a good thing.  But emotionally people need training to learn to not express their "fight or flight" response.)
Animals, birds, insects and micro-organizims use fewer words, are less polluted - a lesson all humans can study and practise.

[ Buddhists and Hindus find the study of the teachings of Gurdjieff / Ouspensky about the "The Psychology of Mans Possibile Evolution" is valuable because these two non-religions don't have a creed.  ).  Gurdjieff / Ouspensky's teachings do not deal with religion, but are about changing the brain and hardwiring the changes.  Gurdjieff / Ouspensky's mandate: Believe nothing, verify everything.  Gurdjieff's bio.  Most students and teachers and thinking people of all stripes today believe it is best to stick to the scientific approach.  I wonder if as described in the excerpt above about selectively bred foxes in Russia - will science or "the work" on ourselves enable us to "tamed the wild in ourselves"? ] (... emphasis added by JG)

subject class warfare tactics

(The "class warfare" tactic used by the pro-wind elements continues unabated.  We all know there are some resentments toward "summer residents" that have lingered just below the surface for many decades.   What is appalling is how the wind developers have studied their local sociology when they move into a new rural community.  They knowingly appeal to the "farmers" telling them that the "rich out-of -towners are trying to keep a boot on your neck just so they can enjoy their pretty views of the sunset -- while you barely get by."  I've seen this kind of coaching explicitly suggested in wind developer strategy papers.   See the class warfare stuff rear its ugly head in the comment thread below this story.  Click here: http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20101230/NEWS05/312309963 )

Reference data on cats

Buggo,
"natural flavors" on the label may be okay.

Mail this to Suzanne and your other friends.

After 3 years of our research pilgrimage on cat food price/quality/allergen/axis, your Walmart’s choice was a good one.

Purists can continue to wait into the future for more features and benefits such as foods cooked only at low temperatures.

Cats will die prematurely if fed only meat which lacks ingredients from the stomach of rodents.

Cat Allergens to avoid: grains (rice is a grass not a grain), milk or whey, etc. – those substances found on pill bottle labels in a health food store: “Does not contain”.  …JG

Natural Flavors

Excerpt: another author: “Natural Flavors  as defined by the FDA With respect to flavors, pet foods often contain "digests," which are materials treated with heat, enzymes and/or acids to form concentrated natural flavors. Only a small amount of a "chicken digest" is needed to produce a "Chicken Flavored Cat Food," even though no actual chicken is added to the food. Stocks or broths are also occasionally added. Whey is often used to add a milk flavor. Often labels will bear a claim of "no artificial flavors." Actually, artificial flavors are rarely used in pet foods. The major exception to that would be artificial smoke or bacon flavors, which are added to some treats.”

The exact definition of natural flavors from the (US) Code of Federal Regulations is as follows:

“The term natural flavor or natural flavoring means the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional.”

“When the phrase ‘natural flavors’ appears on a package, the best move is to call the company and find out what the flavors are actually made from.”

= = = = = = = = = =

Keep away from:

excerpt – “Contains by-products, cheap hard to digest fillers and allergy causing ingredients like corn, wheat, dairy, gluten, soy, artificial flavors, colors, sugars or chemical preservatives. NEVER flavor enhancers or coloring to replace what high-temperature cooking can destroy. Their food DOES contain Omega 3 fatty acids, powerful antioxidants from natural sources, probiotics (supplements that beneficially improve intestinal balance) and chelated minerals”

Finally, It is incorrect to assume that a cat is using his superior cognitive skills to choose Mother Nature’s “nutrition” when a milk product such as whey is present to pollute his sense of small.  To enhance the flavor, “Whey is often used to add a milk flavor.  Allergy prone (older) cats should avoid natural flavors.  An environmental doctor who treats humans (not a vetr.) is trained to venture a calculated opinion on that.
